CHEERLEADING
Cheerleading is a rewarding and exciting sport that teaches teamwork, dedication, sportsmanship, leadership, school spirit, and hard work. The St. Joseph High School Cheerleaders, as visible representatives of our school, are committed to the highest level of athleticism, academic performance, respect and personal dignity, promoting school spirit and pride wherever we go.
Varsity cheerleading is a 10 month, competitive program which begins in late June and ends in March. In addition to cheering at all varsity football and basketball games, squad members participate in after school practices, summer practices, UCA Cheer Camp, team tumbling classes, pep rallies, choreography, community service, and other related activities.
During the winter season the varsity squad participates in six competitions, including the FCIAC Conference Championship and the Class M CIAC State Championship. The squad has been awarded the Class M State Championship in 2014, 2015 and 2016. They also were award National Champions in the Super Large Varsity division at the 2015 Cheer Ltd. Canam Nationals.
Tryouts are held in early May and we encourage all interested athletes to try out for the squad!
